Please join us for this beginner friendly workshop to learn about wild clay, digging your own clay, and use of wild clay for clay bodies and surface decoration.
Jo has collected clay samples from Oregon, Washington, and Montana. In this workshop we will talk about where these clays were found, how she processed them for use, and how she has used them in her work. We will have several clays in various stages of the process prepared for students to experiment with. After the presentation, students will make their own pinch pots with wild clay, experiment with using the clays as slip on leather hard pots, and talk through any questions anyone has.
This workshop is three hours, on July 11th from 10 am - 1 pm. After the workshop, the pinch pots and slipped pots will be fired to cone 6 and will be available for pick up in a few weeks.
