INTRODUCTION TO THE WHEEL | WEDNESDAYS, 9:30AM-NOON | 1/7-2/11 | W/ AMY YORK

$345.00

In this 6-week class, you will learn the skills and techniques necessary to throw on the wheel. The course is designed for those with little, no, or intermediate clay experience and is limited to 5 students, so you will receive plenty of personalized instruction.

You will learn about the different stages that clay goes through on its way to becoming a final glazed piece, all about tools and techniques for throwing a pot, and how to trim and glaze your final pieces. Some attention will be given to surface design (sgrafitto, slip, and underglaze decoration) if students are interested. At the end of the 6-week class, you will have several finished pieces, and the skills to make a pot from start to finish.

We’ll meet Wednesday mornings for six consecutive weeks, beginning January 7th and ending February 11th

Class fee includes: instruction, one (25lb) bag of clay, open studio access for practice (7 days/week, 9am-9:30pm), and use of all tools, equipment, glaze, and firings. Anticipated projects include cylinders, mugs, vases, and bowls.
