In this ten week class, you will learn the skills and techniques necessary to throw on the wheel. The course is designed for those with minimal clay experience who have never thrown before and are ready to learn, those who need a refresher, and those who want to continue to build on a previous class. It is limited to 7 students, so you will receive ample personalized instruction.
You will learn about the different stages that clay goes through on its way to becoming a final glazed piece, all about tools and techniques for throwing a pot, and how to trim and glaze your final pieces. At the end of the ten week class, you will have several finished pots, and the skills to make a piece from start to finish.
We’ll meet on Monday evenings for ten consecutive weeks beginning September 10th and ending November 12th.
Class fee includes: one shelf (16” deep x 16” high x 36” wide), instruction, two (20lb) bags of clay, open studio access for practice (7 days/week, 9am-9:30pm), and use of all tools, equipment, glaze, and firings. Anticipated projects include cylinders, planters, cups, and bowls.
