INTERMEDIATE HANDBUILDING | WEDNESDAYS, 6-8:30PM | 10/22-12/3 | W/ Courtney Murphy
In this 6-week class, you will expand your handbuilding skills, including pinch, coil, slab, and bisque mold techniques. This course is designed for those who have worked with clay either at Throw, or at another ceramics studio and are looking to expand their handbuilding skills. The group is limited to 4 students, so you will receive plenty of personalized instruction, and have the opportunity to make larger forms.
You will learn about the different stages that clay goes through on its way to becoming a final glazed piece, tools and techniques for building and shaping, and how to decorate and glaze your final pieces.
We’ll meet consecutive Wednesday evenings for six weeks, starting October 22nd and ending on December 3rd. Note, this class actually spans 7 weeks, but we do not meet the week of Thanksgiving.
Class fee includes: instruction, one (25lb) bag of clay, open studio access for practice (7 days/week, 9am-9:30pm), and use of all tools, equipment, glaze, and firings. Anticipated projects include: slab, coil, and pinch construction.
